Social Development Department Minister Sisisi Tolashe has pledged her assistance and commitment to strengthening South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) expert services through an engagement with the company's senior managers in a strategic preparing session in Cape Town.
Tolashe on Tuesday expressed her heartfelt congratulations to the various social grant beneficiaries, who excelled while in the 2024 matric exams.
With the 724 156 full-time learners who registered for your National Senior Certification (NSC), 572 338 are social grant beneficiaries, representing 81% of your registered pupils inside the instruction sector.
These learners attained a commendable pass rate of 86%.
"This means that the expense government is earning within the lives of very poor and susceptible little ones is yielding a constructive effect in breaking intergenerational poverty," Tolashe said.
Reflecting on recent achievements, the Minister highlighted important milestones and ongoing priorities. She committed to urgently addressing here the issue of long lasting leadership appointments as well as the shortage of personnel at most local places of work.
On top of that, the Minister highlighted the necessity for Local community-based engagements and outreach functions.
"Our Group is looking ahead to our immense intensification of Local community outreach, in which we prioritise underserved regions to carry solutions nearer to our men and women," she reiterated.
With regards to SASSA methods, Tolashe urged administration to prioritise strengthening and modernising systems to further improve accessibility, queue management and forestall fraud.
Moreover, the Minister has read more requested SASSA Acting CEO, Themba Matlou, to deliver a program that seeks to take care of the issues of payment channels in rural areas by delivering an alternative Resolution for payments.
"We dedicate ourselves to work sassa grants with [SASSA]... We can be found all of the time to address the issues collectively. Most of us need to be Alternative-pushed in our class to generate improvements to the life of our people by concerted attempts," the Minister reported.
